This is the seventh time in his 15 years on tour that Woods came to the last major of the year without having made any progress to the folder that matters most to him - the 18 professional majors won by Jack Nicklaus.

In three of those seasons, he was changing his swing. Last year he was divorcing.

This year, it just does not play.

Since the closure 67 with a master's in short, sharing the head on Sunday until his game stalled and tied for fourth, Woods has gone four months without playing a full rotation due to recurring pain in left knee and Achilles tendon.He missed only four tournaments he would normally have played, but two of them were at the U.S. Open and British Open.
