Golf Nut Blog: We don't know how lucky we are
One thing that dawned on me over the last two weeks is the marked difference in the game of golf in China against the sport we know and understand in New Zealand.
Some of the differences are positive. But many things made me step back and realize how we really Down Under.
Here is a list of some of the main differences I noticed in my time in China.
1.The Chinese golf industry is in its infancy. The first golf course was built only in 1984.The more experienced guys have been around for 20 years and international influences are still very limited. It feels like every component of golf is still a work in progress as more people are exposed to a sport that, for many of his early life, was reserved for the elite. New Zealand is a young country, but the game is part of our sporting and cultural fabric. As clubs across the country celebrate their centenary we realize that a few asides new technologies and trees invaded, things have not changed too much.
